Remembering Our Friends Memorial was founded by Mike Burleigh in 2007 to remember those who have passed. In late 2011 ROF expanded to the Avination Grid. They are places place in Virtual Worlds for those who have lost loved ones in Real Life and Virtual Worlds to come to pay their respects to their friends or loved ones We are staffed entirely by dedicated and talented volunteers.

Our SIMs and all their areas were designed with accessibility in mind. All buildings have ramps or teleports and automatic doors for wheelchair access.

Through a virtual platforms like Second Life® (SL), and Avination® the popular Internet-based virtual worlds, we can reach people all over the world. The virtual platform facilitates gatherings of people and organizations to share information, educate, and support.






We do not profit from what we do. Any overages raised through donations, above expenses, are used to fund future expansion, and routinely passed on to the groups and causes that we support. The more donations we receive in support, the more we can help others.

The ROF Memorial is for you, all of you; it is open to anyone. There is no ROF Memorial without the people that support it and benefit from it.

Accomplishments

• Raised over $1500 USD in Relay for Life for Cancer 2009, in only four weeks.

• Awarded Relay For Life's best designed campsite on Relay weekend.

• Voted as The Residents’ Choice Awards best Memorial for The German Grid in 2009.

• Chosen by Linden Lab in 2010 and 2011 as a SL Showcase destination.

• Invited by Linden Lab as the hosting venue for many events on SL's Day of Remembrance 2010.

• Provided cash donations to several support groups in the Virtual World as well as Real Life.

• Created hundreds of memorials to remember loved ones who have passed away.

• In late 2011 Remembering Our Friends Memorial expanded to the Avination Grid.
